  • SINCE 1698.
    BOTTLED CONDITIONED STRONG ALE.
    FAVERSHAM MARKET TOWN OF KINGS.
This 1698 Bottled Conditioned Ale uses only local hops and malted barley and pulls water direct from our artesian well. Hops are added three times, hence it is 'thrice hopped'. '...a generously malty ale wholes leisurely toffee, butter and sultana flavours are kept clean and balanced but lavish use of fragrant Kentish hops...' (Andrew Jefford)
Shepherd Neame's brewery has stood by the meandering salt creek in the ancient port of Faversham for over 300 years. A Royal Court to the Kings of Kent, the town holds no less then 17 Royal Charters and is one of the few allowed to use the 'three lions crest' from the Royal Arms.

  • Britain's oldest brewer
An historic brew which conjures up images of high seas and faraway places. An IPA encapsulates centuries of brewing tradition, a quintessentially strong and hoppy beer with a bold, stirring character. Our India Pale Ale delivers this magnificently; pale in colour and generously bittered with locally grown Fuggles hops. The high hop rate in this brew originally protected the beer during its arduous journey across the continents. Those same Kentish hop notes can now be enjoyed for their own sake in this original recipe from Britain's oldest brewer.

Bishops Finger - at 5.4% it's near the knuckle
Spitfire This 4.5% Kentish ale was first brewed in 1990 to celebrate the battle of Britain which was fought in the skies above Kent 50 years earlier. The beer is named after the legendary Spitfire aeroplane designed by R J Mitchell. The versatility of the aircraft and the courage of its pilots were essential to victory and were a key symbol of the spirit of that time. Spitfire - the bottle of Britain
Master Brew Master Brew is one of Kent's best loved ales and a familiar sight throughout the county. A proud supporter of the local community including the sponsorship of Kent County Cricket Club. Andrew Jefford, describes it as "this amber-russet Kentish ale owes its uniquely invigorating style to a profusion of pungent Kentish hops infusing its mouthwatering base of crystal malts". Master Brew is truly the Local Hero.

  • Greene King IPA ale is an award winning, perfectly balanced, premium quality beer brewed in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. The official beer of English Rugby. IPA stands for India Pale Ale, a particular type of beer that was brewed for export to expatriates during the days of the Indian Raj. Hops have a preservative effect on beer, so an unusually large quantity were used in the brewing process to ensure that the beer remained in good condition during the long sea voyage to India. To this day Greene King IPA retains the distinctive hoppy taste and aroma. The characteristic hoppy taste and aroma comes from the use of Challenger and First Gold hops, which are combined with pale and crystal malts to create this perfectly balanced, premium quality beer. It’s easy to drink, making the perfect choice for any occasion. It’s refreshing on its own but it’s also great with curries, Mexican dishes and other spicy foods.

  • Newcastle Brown Ale is a full-flavoured smooth ale with refreshing lightness. It was created in 1927 by Colonel Jim Porter in Newcastle, England during two years of painstaking development, where he sought to develop a unique tasting beer combining the full flavour of ale with easy drinkability. The end result was a smooth, caramel tasting ale with a slightly nutty aftertaste - the original and definitive brown ale. Newcastle Brown Ale is an iconic brand and the No.1 packaged ale in the UK, offering great taste and value. It is sold in over 40 countries worldwide and is one of the fastest selling beers in the US. Newcastle Brown Ale's delicate fruit aroma and caramel and nutty malt taste make it pleasurable and easy to drink.

We draw spring water, known in Marsh Gibbon folklore for its healing properties, from the village spring at Stump Well. Our malt is from Britain's oldest floor maltings; our barley is grown on the Hampshire chalk downlands and the hops in Pride of Oxford are Cascade and Perle. We brew an Oxfordshire Ale to satisfy all thirsts and we're rightly proud of their growing reputation and awards. Golden Hoppy ale
Our head brewer has combined the finest East Anglian Ale malted barley with a subtle blend of Crystal Malt and Caramalt with McMullen's own pure spring water. The addition of whole leaf Fuggle, Bramling Cross and Golding Hops at different stages of the brewing process gives a golden bitter with hints of citrus and spicy berries for a well balanced beer.
