The superior quality of Captain Morgan is firstly owed to the rum's provenance, as the Captain is a premium blend of five rum marques from three different Caribbean countries, allowing for greater complexity of flavour. Then the rum is distilled partly using the traditional 'pot stilled' process resulting in greater quality and fuller flavour. Finally the rum is aged for at least two years in charred oak barrels before the Ron Maestro (master blender) performs his art in the secret blending of the finished liquid. The resulting rum is one of superior quality & taste. Incredibly rich & smooth, you will taste many flavours including toffee & vanilla, with a rounded oaken nose.

In 1932 a great fire destroyed the Trinidad & Tobago Government Rum Bond. Joseph Bento Fernandes master blender and owner of Fernandes Distillery seized this opportunity and bought the charred casks of rum only then to discover that this rum had aged and matured magnificently. This prized rum was skilfully blended and called 1919 "Super" Premium Rum (1919 being the year the rum was casked). As expected, this rum was soon in great demand. This demand eventually spread overseas through a most interesting set of circumstances. With the declaration of World War II in 1939, Trinidad and Tobago troops volunteered to serve on the battlefronts in Europe. The Company decided to send a bottle of the 1919 "Super" Premium Rum on a regular basis to each of our airmen serving overseas. Through their generosity they soon came to share our rum with their foreign colleagues - and thus our product became known in the wider world and our 1919 "Super" Premium Rum came to symbolize the spirit of Trinidad & Tobago.
