  • A fruit driven style showing concentrated blackcurrant and dark berries with spice. Fine tannins, medium to full body. Refined and elegant, this wine is full of berry fruit flavours and full of life. In 1847, a young Bavarian immigrant named Johann Gramp planted the Barossa Valley's first commercial Vineyard on the banks of Jacob's Creek.  From the vine to the bottle, the mission for Jacob's Creek is simply to improve the quality of each vintage Fruit was harvested from a variety of regions within South Eastern Australia that have traditionally provided the correct balance of flavour for the blend. The free run and pressing fractions were incorporated with the aim of improving the tannin structure of the wine. The base wines were matured for twelve months before blending and were lightly filtered before bottling.

Description

Rich, ripe plum and dark berry aromas with hints of cherry and raspberry over savoury, smoky oak and complexing star anise. Since 1853 when Thomas Hardy set up his winery after emigrating from England to Australia, Hardys has crafted some of Australia's best-known and most popular wines. In 1850 at the age of 20, Thomas Hardy came to South Australia from England and established a winery on the banks of Adelaide's River Torrens in 1853 which went on to become an outstanding family wine business. He was a pioneer of immense character. Fruit for this wine was sourced from from quality vineyards around South Eastern Australia where riper fruit parcels were specifically selected to achieve a style rich in body and flavour. Fruit for this wine was picked in the cool of the night, to ensure that maximum varietal falvour and freshness of character was retained. The wine was fermented cool to retain the fruit and then and aged on oak for additional complexity and flavour.
