  • Founded by Thomas Allinson in 1892.
For higher rising, fuller texture white loaves.
FOR BREAD MAKERS & HAND BAKING.
Thomas Allinson was truly ahead of his time. As a Victorian pioneer of healthy eating, he believed wholemeal flour was vital to a balanced diet. Such groundbreaking ideas seemed radical then - but are now commonly accepted. And we believe some things should never change. The consistent quality of our milled flour still meets the high standards Thomas set 1892. Our range may have expanded to match the variety of your baking, but our commitment to the ideals of Thomas Allinson remains as strong as ever. We mill our Strong White bread flour from a blend of specially selected higher protein wheats so your bread rises perfectly and consistently with rich texture. Use in your favourite bread recipes, as well as in pizza dough. T.R. Allinson.
Click onto www.bakingmad.com for more than 150 of our delicious recipe ideas - from sundried tomato bread to blackberry and pecan muffins. We've also gathered top tips for new and experienced bakers, and great advice for baking with kids. For baking advice when using Allinson products simply call us on 01672 565257.
Next time, why not try our Premium Wholemeal Very Strong Bread Flour? We mill a premium blend of higher protein wholemeal wheats to naturally obtain up to three times the fibre of the white flour.

Let me introduce myself - I'm Fred chief flour grader at Homepride flour. I've been helping Great Britain get baking for fifty years.
Hello! Back in the 60's when I first started in this job, it was all about the perfect pineapple upside down cake. These days, cute cupcakes are the trendy bake. Over the years I've become a bit of a baking celebrity, lending myself to everything from flour sifters to egg timers - a great range of collectable kitchen kit for bakes across the land. Some of my classic collectables are still available and we're adding new items all the time. See what's available on my website and I can look forward to saying hello in person to you sometime soon! Happy baking. Great Britain! Fred

    "00" grade plain wheat flour
For sumptuous sauces and perfect pastry "00" Grade Premium Plain Flour uses the purest, whitest, central part of the wheat. The resulting flour is incredibly silky and white and blends more easily with fats and liquid than other flours.
Sauces are dramatically whiter, smoother and glossier... with less effort. No lumps mean no need for extra whisking, sieving or liquidising. When making Shortcrust Pastry this flour is easier to handle and will give you deliciously crisp, light pastries.

The lightest, softest sponges... This Supreme Sponge flour is the only that is specially made for sponge making. We use selected, premium soft wheats, that are extra-sifted to create a finer flour. This means it can absorb more moisture than regular self-raising flours. The end result is sponges that are very soft, light and even-textured - perfect for when you want to bake something that's a slice above the rest.

Paperbag: recyclable. BRITISH GROWN AND MILLED. G. R. Wright & Sons Ltd 1867.
    EST. 1867.
British Grown... E&K Benton Ltd are 4th generation family farmers and have been growing wheat in Essex since 1926. Started by Sonny Benton, the farm is now run by Tim and his sons Tom and James. The farm is in an area of low rainfall on fertile 'moisture trapping' London Clay - ideal for the cultivation of Britain's best quality bread wheat variety, Hereward. The wheat is grown, harvested, stored and transported under strict standards of hygiene and food safety that are assured from an independent assessor.
...And Milled. The Wright's family mill has been making fine flours since 1867. Located at Ponders End in London, the mill dates as far back as the Doomsday Book of 1086. Founded by George Wright and handed down over 5 generations, G.R. Wright & Sons Ltd is now run by great, great grandson David. Still using traditional methods and only the finest British wheat variety Hereward, the family continues to make the very best of flours for baking exceptional quality breads.

    120 years of milling expertise
A Story of Passion Thomas Allison set up his first flour mill in 1892, intent on providing bakers with wholesome, high quality ingredients. Allinson was something of a pioneer, passionately encouraging people to eat well and enjoy the simple, healthy things in life. This philosophy is still at the very heart of what we hold dear today.
Looking for Perfection We maintain the very highest standards of milling. Our flour is made from British wheat whenever possible, sourced from the local farms around our mill at Bishop's Stortford in Hertfordshire and our expert millers still work in a 'hands on' way, carefully fine-tuning the milling of each flour batch - in fact, our flour is thoroughly checked and test-baked to ensure that it's the very finest and purest we can make it.
